        The contest 31 and contest 30 mark 1 which share a similar underwater profile albeit with different transoms have a stout all fiberglass hull and deck with no coring anywhere. They have a long fin keel with a prop skeg which limits the vulnerability of the prop shaft, and a rudder that is hung from a very substantial skeg. In addition to this the rigging is generally oversized as these boats were designed for the North Sea. Tall molded toe rails a masthead rig and plenty of storage below make this a good choice for a blue water boat. In addition it is listed in mahina expeditions blue water boats list. At least 1 has circumnavigated
